GOTTA GET AWAY! Savannah ride with Robert July 17, 2011

It's been a few weeks since we took a nice ride. The open road is calling.

For this adventure we have a partner in crime, Robert Horan. We head North to Savannah this time. We take US Highway 17, to ride up the coastline. Weather is great. Well, a little rain here and there but not enough to dampen our spirits.

Heading North on 17 we pass Mudcat Charlie's in Darien. We didn't stop this time but I couldn't miss an opportunity to mention this place. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the appetizer I like... balls of some sort - yeah, that would make me want to order it. But, trust me, their 'whatever' balls are really good.

Once in Savannah, we hit River Street. At Bernie's Oyster House the guys get 'A Bucket Full'- you shuck 'em steamed oysters. Not my cup of tea, but they love it. I'll just sit back and drink, don't mind me. :) Bernie's is a cool place to hang out. But, in all fairness, EVERYWHERE on River Street is. After Joe and Robert fill up on oysters, we hit the Moon River Brewing Co.  - Savannah's Brew Pub. The guys try the Captain's Porter and the Swamp Fox Pale Ale. I'm not big on that kind of beer, so I'll just sit back and drink (vodka), don't mind me.

We make a couple of stops in the Market Square too....Honorable mention to Wild Wings Cafe (good but just like every other Wild Wings Cafe). Vinnie Van Go-Gos is a great stop if the wait isn't too long. Bike parking along the side...Sunday seems to be the day to ride there.

Short trip but soooo fun! Thanks Robert!

Later!
